Municipal, residential, business and industry customers trust and rely on ATCO Gas. We respect that trust and work hard every day to earn and maintain it. It’s a responsibility we take very seriously. We are committed to our customers and the responsibility of providing them with information they can use to live and work safely around natural gas. We continually work with customers, employees and industry partners to prevent natural gas emergencies.

We provide resources for emergency response workersIn cases of emergency, firefighters, police or emergency medical services are often the first on the scene. To teach emergency response personnel how to deal with a natural gas emergency, we offer customized information sessions and print resources. Our employees also work alongside fire-rescue when major incidents occur - building fires, hit or ruptured natural gas lines, carbon monoxide calls or other emergencies involving natural gas. ATCO Gas plays an important role in several municipal emergency response networks. In 2006, ATCO Gas partnered with the City of Edmonton to offer a new education program to help local residents better prepare for major emergencies - The Community Emergency Preparedness Program. A home emergency planning guide is also available online or at the Citizen Action Centre in Edmonton's City Hall and local fire stations. Employees receive ongoing education and trainingOur employees are trained in all aspects of safety around natural gas, working alongside pipelines, responding to natural gas emergencies and wearing protective clothing. Regular safety meetings are opportunities to review the policies that help keep our employees and customers safe. Driving the message home – vehicle decal programATCO Gas has taken its safety message
