National Aboriginal Day, a time to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and significant contributions of Canada’s Indigenous people.
Each year, on June 21, communities across Canada take part in a country-wide event promoting pride, understanding and awareness of Indigenous cultures, traditions, contributions and achievements. The date was chosen for the cultural significance of the summer solstice, as many Indigenous groups traditionally use the official first day of summer to celebrate their heritage.
At ATCO, we work year-round to build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities based on respect, trust and understanding. National Aboriginal Day gives us the opportunity to help our Indigenous partners raise awareness of their rich culture with the larger community by supporting their planned celebrations. This year, we were pleased to support events in St. Albert, Calgary and Slave Lake.
