Learn how
to read the meter:
- Please read the meter following the instructions below based on whether
the meter style is Rotary or Odometer.
- Obtain your site ID. This 13-digit number is found on most retailer
statements. The site ID begins with 000.
- Contact ATCO Gas with the reading on the day you read the meter. ATCO Gas
will not accept a customer meter reading submitted more than one business day
after the day the meter was read.
|
NOTE:
|
If ATCO Gas has not been able to read the meter for at least six months, we
will not accept your customer meter reading or pass it to your retailer.
Instead, your usage will be estimated until we have been provided with
access to read our meter. |
Rotary Meter (3-dial)

-
Mark the exact position of each dial hand.
- When dial hand is between numbers, write the lower number, except when
between 0 and 9 then use the 9.
- DO NOT REPORT the 1,000 ft dial. But consult the 1,000 ft. dial and
if it is 5 or higher, round up the 10,000 ft dial by one digit. For the
example shown above, the meter reading to be reported is 908.
Odometer Meter (3-index)

- Record the numbers you see.
- If the 4th index (1,000 ft.) is a 5 or higher, round up the 3rd
index (10,000 ft.) by one digit.
- Report the numbers from the first three indexes. For the example shown
above, the meter reading to be reported is 283.
A 3-dial meter is typically installed on residential and small commercial
properties. Three dials refers to how many dials are reported for a meter
reading. The 1,000 ft index (which is the 4th dial on this size of
meter) is not reported but is used to determine if the 10,000 ft dial/index must
be rounded up.

(Large Commercial) meter read
Large use commercial properties will typically have a 4-dial meter. Four dials
refers to how many dials are reported for a meter reading. The 1,000 ft. index
(which is the 5th dial on large use meters) is not reported but is
used to determine if the 10,000 ft dial must be rounded up.
Having trouble submitting a meter reading?
If you are having difficulty submitting your meter
reading electronically, please be sure you've entered
www.atcogas.com to reach the website, not

When you are moving
Please be aware that ATCO Gas
does not read meters when customers move in or out of properties or start and
end accounts with a retailer.
If you wish to have a meter
reading sent to your retailer for the day your account with your retailer starts
and ends, you are welcome to contact ATCO Gas with a customer meter reading.
A customer move in/out reading will not be accepted if it has been at least six
months since the last company reading. Please report the meter reading on the
day your account starts as we regret we do not accept meter readings older than
one business day.
