ATCO Community Symposiums
 

ATCO Gas and ATCO Electric have a long history of supporting rural Alberta and the people who live and work there. With many of our employees and customers living in rural communities across Alberta, ATCO plays an important part in sustainability of these communities.

Since 2000 ATCO has partnered with a number of communities to offer the Symposiums to help not-for-profit organizations and those in the volunteer sector stay informed about the latest trends and best practices in their industry. Comments and feedback from hundreds of speakers and participants has been overwhelmingly positive demonstrating the program's success in advancing the knowledge and capacity of people working to improve the quality of life in rural Alberta.

2007 Vision for the Future: Building a Vibrant Organization      

Hanna & Kitscoty

  The 2007 event provided symposium delegates valuable insights on recruitment, technology, partnerships and best practices to help steer the transformation of their organization into a more effective and relevant organization for the future.
 
2006 Volunteer Management for Not-For-Profits

Trochu & Vegreville

  Each community hosted a one-day symposium providing leaders in local non-profit charitable and community service organizations a unique professional development opportunity in the field of volunteer management.
 
2005 Marketing Your Organization

Drumheller & Lloydminster

  Leaders from academic, corporate and not-for-profit organizations gathered to discuss best practices for strategic marketing, a growing challenge for many Alberta municipalities and community service organizations.
 
2004 Fundraising for Non-Profit Organizations

Forestburg

  This symposium featured a number of informative presentations from experts in the corporate, non-profit and volunteer sectors providing valuable information on best practices in event planning, motivation for giving and an inside look at successful fund development programs.
 
2003 Creating Vibrant Communities II

Heisler

  In follow-up to the successful 2002 symposium, issues surrounding rural sustainability and development were explored further as participants and speakers shared best practices in event planning, community enhancement and development, and reviewed successful community revitalization projects.
 
2002 Creating Vibrant Communities I

Village of Delia

  Speakers and representatives from the non-profit and volunteer sector, local government and corporate sector shared information and techniques for planning effective special events and tourism attraction programs.
