Our employees are active partners in the communities we serve and give generously each year to important social causes.

A program called ATCO EPIC (Employees Participating in Communities) supports employee charitable giving and volunteerism. In 2006, we directed almost $732,000 to communities and charities across Alberta. In 2005, more than $700,000 was directed through ATCO EPIC.

“ATCO Gas employees give generously every year to increase support for charities and community service organizations in our service area, and their efforts are visible with more money raised in 2006 than ever before,” says Jerome Engler, President, ATCO Gas.

Charitable Giving

Volunteerism

Since 1947, ATCO Gas employees have raised millions of dollars for charities of their choice through our ATCO EPIC, formerly known as ECSF (Employees Community Service Fund) campaign. Although health and welfare donations cannot be directed to a specific community, the benefits from these programs can and do directly impact citizens from Alberta communities.

Employees personally select registered health and wellness organizations and charities to support their communities.

Through an ATCO fund-matching program, ATCO increases the overall financial impact.

In 2006, ATCO Gas and its employees directed more than $715,000 to charitable organizations and community programs.

Our Volunteer Recognition Fund is designed to increase the impact of our employees who volunteer in their communities.

This fund is one way we support our staff who give their time to improve the quality of life in their community.

The Volunteer Recognition Fund is similar to the charitable-giving program, however instead of rewarding employee financial contributions, it rewards employee efforts.

The mechanics of the program are simple: employees who have volunteered 50 hours or more in the past year in their community are eligible for a $150 donation to the registered charity of their choice.

Through the Volunteer Recognition Fund, ATCO Gas and its employees directed $16,650 to charities in 2006, based on 18,686 hours of registered volunteering.
