ATCO Gas collects meter readings and uses this measurement information to calculate how much natural gas has been used each charge period. Our company passes this information to your retailer, along with our delivery charges and your retailer passes these costs on to you.

Donate-a-Ride kicks off 2012 fundraising campaign

Edmonton's only city-run charity celebrated 16 years of giving Edmontonians a lift at a 2012 fundraising campaign kick-off ceremony at city hall on December 30. Keith Carter, Vice President Edmonton Operations for ATCO Gas and part of the Donate-a-Ride steering committee, was on hand with founding member and co-chair Councilor Kim Krushell to congratulate the city for its hard work on behalf of the cause.

“More than ever, rising costs affect our economy and make it harder for those on stretched budgets to have affordable access to reliable transportation. Thanks to unique programs like Donate-a-Ride more than 87,000 adult and youth tickets were distributed to 60 organizations in 2011 to needy Edmontonians,” said Keith. “ATCO Gas is a corporate community leader, and we’re delighted to be a part of a program that helps improve the quality of life for those in our community.”

January 2012 marks the seventh year that ATCO Gas has partnered with the Donate-a-Ride program and the fifth year as a gold-level sponsor.

Former city councilor and current executive director of the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues Allan Bolstad came up with the idea back in 1996. Since then, the annual campaign has raised more than $1.4 million in transit tickets for low-income individuals and families. Edmontonians in need receive transit tickets for basic bus transportation to get to the employment, educational and social services they need to improve their lives. It has grown to include fare boxes on transit buses from New Year's Eve until the end of January. Edmontonians can also donate year-round through the United Way.
