2012 Alberta Winter Games Announces an Early Christmas Gift from ATCO Gas

The Friends of the 2012 Alberta Winter Games are excited to announce the support of ATCO Gas with a $50,000 sponsorship of cash and gift-in-kind.

“ATCO Gas is thrilled to be part of a program that allows youth to realize and showcase their talents and potential,” says Bill Stephens, Senior Vice President & General Manager, ATCO Gas. “As ATCO Gas celebrates its 100-year anniversary in 2012, we look forward to delivering the energy that fuels the spirit of competition, celebrates youth, and creates vibrant communities.”

2012 Alberta Winter Games Sponsor Director Raydon Frayne says, “Its companies like ATCO Gas and their continued support that allow events such as the Alberta Games to become bi-annual events. ATCO is a company you can always count on to be there and we are very grateful. The Alberta Games provincial level of competition teaches young athletes to set goals to achieve their potential. ATCO helps make this possible through their continuous support”, says Frayne.

How we help

  • ATCO Torch Relay
ATCO is pleased to supply torches that are custom-made by our employees.  These torches are about 4 lbs, run on 99 per cent pure isopropanol, and the wooden handles are made from maple trees.

  • Opening Ceremonies
We provide our natural gas cauldron for the lighting ceremony to ignite the spirit of the Alberta Games.  This flame is a symbol of harmony, goodwill and peace.

  • Day of Caring
Our employees will volunteer their time to help out the games with whatever they need from athlete registration to event set up and take down – we are there to help!

  • Loaner Equipment
ATCO Gas also provides equipment such as canopies and soundstages to help offset costs that the Alberta Games society may endure.
